About Us
Located in tax-free southern New Hampshire, Chris and Chris, a.k.a. The Maple Guys, have been producing maple syrup together for the past eleven years. What started as a hobby on a homemade rig has grown to a 600+ tap operation boiling on an Algier 3'x10' wood-fired evaporator. The Maple Guys enjoy sharing their enthusiasm for a New England tradition with visitors to their sugarhouse and with the school groups they host annually.
In addition to their maple syrup operations, The Maple Guys were previously a distributor of Algier Evaporator Co., Inc. evaporators and related equipment until that company's closure in August 2005. The Maple Guys are now distributors for Lapierre USA, Inc. (a division of Lapierre/Waterloo/Small, Maple Pro (CDL/Dallaire), GBM LLC, and Misco. A wide variety of maple supplies is available, a portion of which is available for purchase online.
Always looking for ways to improve their own sugaring operations, The Maple Guys released their own innovative tool, the Acc-u-cup, to maple producers everywhere. The Acc-u-cup has proven to be an effective tool for producers. In early 2006, The Maple Guys introduced another new piece of equipment to the market, the Hands-Free Bottling System, which is receiving rave reviews from other producers.
The Maple Guys are proud members of the New Hampshire Maple Producers Association and the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. At the January 2005 annual meeting of the NH Maple Producers Association, Chris and Chris were awarded the Carlisle trophy for "Best Maple Syrup in New Hampshire," receiving a perfect score for flavor, clarity and density. As a result of having won this prestigious award, The Maple Guys were featured on WMUR's New Hampshire Chronicle the week of April 11, 2005.
In the spring of 2006, The Maple Guys' operations were certified organic by the State of New Hampshire and a kitchen was added to their sugarhouse to allow for the production of maple candy, which is sold at several area stores.
In January 2007, The Maple Guys were once again awarded the Carlisle Trophy for "Best Maple Syrup in New Hampshire" at the NH Maple Producers Association Annual Meeting.
In 2009, The Maple Guys were awarded a Conservation Innovation Grant from the USDA NCRS and purchased a new high-efficiency gasification evaporator - the Lapierre Hurricane Force 5. While mother nature did not allow for a very productive season in 2010, the evaporator did perform well, dramatically decreasing the wood usage and polluting emissions.
